Sample Room Engineer

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the effort to drive the accuracy of critical item dimensional data and to ensure that vendor packaging meets Lowe's packaging and safety guidelines. This role is accountable for sample process development, implementation, execution and measurement as well as overseeing daily sample room operations. This position works cross-functionally with Inventory Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, Inventory Fulfillment, Distribution, Spin 360, and Vendors to provide support and key inputs that drive supply chain efficiencies, with a focus on reducing supply chain costs and preventing safety issues in the network. This position is responsible for identifying and leading cost savings initiatives by using data, testing methods and interactions with supply chain teams and vendors.

  • Leads multiple team members in the day to day operations of the sample room
  • Develops and documents sample processes
  • Ensures team members are trained on and compliant with sample processes
  • Prepares and delivers daily/weekly job performance results to management team
  • Identifies and delivers financially sound cost savings opportunities from a packaging and DC flow perspective
  • Interacts with supply chain partners and vendors to ensure the safe and efficient flow of goods through the network, including non-standard packaging and shipping methods
  • Collaborates and delivers goods to Quality Assurance team for additional product testing, and delivers clear results and recommendations to supply chain teams and vendors
  • Works closely with the Spin 360 team and Inventory Fulfillment to support the initiative
  • Leads supply chain teams and vendors through operations overviews at DC 960

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Logistics or Similar Field

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Distribution Operations, or Manufacturing
  • 2+ years of Experience in a Supply Chain role at Lowe’s or in a similar industry, including Inventory Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Chain Optimization, Inventory Fulfillment, DC operations, Network Flow, and Supply Chain Engineering
  • Technical experience with Excel, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and deliver results in a cross-functional environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in project management, influencing without authority, data analytics, organization, and problem-solving

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of Experience leading people directly or indirectly
  • Industrial Engineering experience
  • Experience managing projects
  • General packaging knowledge
