Job Summary:

The Assistant Planning Manager supervises a high performing team that is capable of analyzing and planning for the distribution of product into and out of the facility, resolving inventory discrepancies (damages, lost inventory, new inventory), and supervising costs. The position manages and oversees the inbound planning of products to meet outbound demand and ensures the facility is achieving or exceeding performance targets. This is accomplished by monitoring the support team’s activities and reviewing reports.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Monitor performance and mentor Support Coaches; ensure Coaches are executing responsibilities acceptably

• Prepare Support Coaches for the Assistant Planning Manager role or Operations Coach role

• Assist Coaches with any issues that may arise that need the resolution of management

• Communicate effectively with team members about business objectives, current issues or process improvements

• Monitor reports to ensure Operations is running smoothly

• Report to upper management and Corporate key performance and financial figures

• Push out daily Corporate shipping priorities to Operations

• Track inbound trailers for priority products

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist Planning Manager in gathering data to create the annual budget; help monitor costs

• Prioritize DC to DC shipments

• Take calls from stores requesting information or when issue has escalated

• Setup new store in the system

• Handle emergency demand of product to stores and ensure product is shipped

• Review receiving schedule for today and planned for next day

Required Qualifications :

• Proven record for complying with safety requirements, and ability to build a culture of safety among subordinates and peers

• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience

• Successfully manages multiple tasks simultaneously

• Can make solid decisions quickly based on limited information.

• Experience creating and managing budgets and forecasting

• Demonstrated team-building skills

• Ability to build rapport and trust with others

Experience and willingness to mentor and coach others

• Ability to resolve interpersonal conflicts among team members

• Familiarity with distribution center operations

• Copes positively in high-stress work environment

• Approaches change optimistically; adjusts proficiently to changing work environments

• Ability to work independently as well as with a team

• Highly motivated to the team’s and facility’s success

• Analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve complex problems; creative problem-solving

• Basic computer skills

• College degree (Business, Transportation, or Supply Chain Management preferred) or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications :

• Situational Leadership II

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access and/or Lowe’s DMS system
