Job Summary:

This Infrastructure Engineer-Network position supports the enterprise network infrastructure in our corporate data centers. The successful candidate will need a solid understanding of structured copper and fiber cabling, a broad understanding of network principals and terminology, a basic understanding of Cisco IOS, and a willingness to be hands on.

This position is part of a multi-discipline team that works together for physical planning, coordination, deployment, integration, and to support various systems and technologies critical to our enterprise IT environment.

Normal working hours are 8am – 5pm, M – F, with an on call rotation. Major deployments and implementations may require work outside of normal hours.

The unique skills required for effective performance in this job include acute awareness, meticulous attention to detail, and an overall understanding of data centers and how they operate.



Essential Responsibilities:


Management and Engineering of structured copper and fiber cabling systems with knowledge of the following standards; ANSI/TIA 942, ANSI/TIA 568, ISO/IEC 11801, and IEEE 802.3.

Ability to identify and communicate network requirements, protocols, and settings associated with deploying and supporting network, VOIP, security, server, and storage equipment; working with the first 3 layers of the OSI model.

Troubleshoot issues associated with physical equipment and connectivity, logical pathways, and network configurations by inspection, probes, Cisco IOS commands, and various monitoring tools.

Develops or modifies infrastructure solutions by identifying technical solutions to business problems; developing and validating system design prototypes; collaborating with various IT Teams (e.g., database, operations, technical support) throughout system development and implementation; ensuring system designs adhere to company architecture standards; building hardware configurations and preparing system components for installation to the infrastructure; developing and documenting detailed standards (e.g., guidelines, processes, procedures) to enable successful rollout of new or existing systems; supporting patch and life cycle management, backups, and disaster protection; collaborating with IT teams and key business partners to troubleshoot systems as appropriate; providing systems incident support as needed; providing post-implementation support to make system enhancements; providing knowledge, information, and updates on new or upgraded services to stakeholders as appropriate

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and 2+ years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field

• 2+ years of experience leading technical or project teams with or without direct reports

• 1+ years of work experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management (i.e., Director level or higher)

• 2+ years of experience working in a large matrixed organization

• 2+ years of experience working with third party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers

• 2+ years of IT experience in the retail industry

• 2+ years of experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment
