Sr. Instruction Designer
The Senior Instructional Designer will have primary responsibility for ensuring program or initiative success factors are in place and at optimal levels, leveraging internal and external resources, to prepare for the successful implementation of the programs or initiatives. This includes providing solutions that effectively solve business needs, while being cost and resource efficient, giving learners easily transferrable skills and knowledge.
Program / Project Management: Instructional Design
•Design, develop, and deliver learning solutions through the use of proven and effective adult learning principles.
•Conduct needs analysis to inform the solutions development process; follow established design and development model to ultimately create content.
•Design learning solutions (frameworks, programs, and/or performance support resources) with identified performance objectives to help enable business performance.
•Work collaboratively to influence others on the development of solutions to ensure relevance, fit, and applicability.
•Conduct appropriate pre-deployment solutions testing to include Alpha, Beta and/or Pilot testing with target audience group.
•Coordinate, plan for, and oversee the development of multiple learning solutions; consult with the business to ensure solutions are aligned to business objectives and strategies. This includes the development of project plans that account for work performance, success measurement, critical deadlines, pre-deployment testing, and necessary resources.
Program / Project Management: Implementation, Logistics, & Delivery
•Develop and execute comprehensive change management and program communication strategies for program implementation and delivery.
•Identify and implement ways to increase program efficiency and effectiveness while maintaining the integrity of the instructional design.
•Manage consultants and/or vendors, if needed, in support of project and program design/development.
•Work with Lowe’s employees, potentially from individual contributor to Vice President level roles, to ensure successful design and development of learning and performance improvement solutions.
•Prepare and deliver regular project status updates.
Facilitation & Classroom Management (if required by role)
•Speak comfortably, effectively, and persuasively in front of leadership groups in a variety of settings to clearly and logically present ideas and influence direction.
•Deliver designed solutions through classroom facilitation, electronic solution launch, publishing performance support, etc. ensuring learner experience and engagement while delivering to the designed business outcome for the target audience.
•Create a climate of learner engagement and productivity by motivating and encouraging learners to contribute ideas, interact with others, and transfer their learning to the job.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- H.S. Diploma
- 9+ years Demonstrated understanding and application of adult learning theory and instructional design using appropriate modalities for a distributed workforce. Experience working with business clients and asking qualifying questions. Ability to effectively communicate and respond situationally/appropriately. General business understanding
- Business, Instructional Design, Education, Industrial-Organization Psychology, Human Performance Technology
- 5+ years of experience
- Business (non-Learning & Development / HR / Education) experience
- 3 years experience in a large, multi-unit organization and/or retail experience
- 3 years experience with learning delivery, organizational development program implementation; or change management programs
