The Senior IT Software Engineer - Endpoint Protection, will oversee the design, deployment, and operation of highly available, resilient security solutions at an enterprise scale. The Senior IT Software Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring enterprise IT systems are engineered and implemented securely, working with cross-functional teams to deliver endpoint security solutions that serve the diverse needs of a global IT organization.

In this role, you will function as the technical endpoint security expert and senior engineer for a growing portfolio of security solutions. You will have the opportunity to work with other engineers and business units to help spec, build, configure, and maintain critical preventive and detective security infrastructure related to Lowe’s endpoints.


  • Design, deploy and operate highly available, resilient security solutions at enterprise scale
  • Implement and support enterprise endpoint security software (Tanium), managing 500,000+ computing assets across a variety of platforms (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Cloud, etc.)
  • Translate business requirements and functional specifications into logical program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions with guidance from senior colleagues as appropriate by partnering with Business Analysts to understand business needs and functional specifications
  • Analyze, design, develop, and operate programs, shell scripts, tests, and infrastructure automation capabilities in an advanced security context
  • Collaborate with architects and/or software consultants to ensure functional specifications are converted into flexible, scalable, and maintainable solution designs
  • Develop and update technical documentation for solution architecture, business continuity planning, and training purposes
  • Develop, configure, or modify complex integrated business and/or enterprise solutions within various computing environments
  • Validate and execute component integration test (CIT) scenarios to identify application errors and ensure software solutions meet functional specifications
  • Provide end to end support to enterprise counterparts, identifying the root cause of complex enterprise initiatives with endpoint security solutions
  • Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of complex business and enterprise software solutions to ensure successful deployment of released applications by packaging solutions for deployment
  • Support systems integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT) by providing insight to testing teams in order to ensure the appropriate depth of test coverage
  • Participate and coaching others in all software development life cycle phases by applying and sharing an in-depth understanding of the company’s and industry methodologies, policies, standards, and controls
  • Communicate effectively across multiple teams, coordinating the completion of complex tasks to achieve organizational goals


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field and 10+ years of experience in software development or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience working on project(s) involving the implementation of solutions applying development life cycles (SDLC)
  • 6+ years of experience in database technologies or 5+ years of experience with Web Services


  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
  • 6+ years of IT experience developing and implementing systems within an organization
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows operating systems (workstation and server) and in-depth knowledge of Linux/AIX operating systems (server)
  • Familiarity with Mac OS
  • Strong working knowledge of networking, application, database, infrastructure and/or server administration
  • Working knowledge of containerized architectures
  • Moderate experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Solid understanding of networking infrastructure, including load balancers, firewalls, NACLs
  • 3+ years of experience working with Microsoft SCCM and/or Tanium
  • 3+ years of experience working with SOAP/REST APIs
  • 3+ years of experience working with source code control systems
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports
  • 5+ years of experience in systems analysis, including defining technical requirements and performing high-level design for complex solutions
  • 4+ years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework
