The primary purpose of this role is to serve as an analytics expert by translating business problems into analytic design and performing the mathematical and statistical analysis or model building as appropriate. This includes responsibility for applying knowledge of Lowe's data concepts in order to link it to the creation of relevant analytic designs and make business recommendations, as well as following analytical best practices, accurately reporting and analyzing results and identifying insights for decision making. This position is also responsible for taking the lead on analytic and automation projects, providing expertise in problem analysis , solution implementation, and ongoing optimization.

  • Provides deep and sophisticated analytic capabilities to support retail business problems by understanding business challenges
  • Collects, cleans, transforms, and restructures data for statistical analysis; performs statistical summaries and tests for relevant business questions
  • Creates analytic solutions by exploring innovative data and techniques; conducts exploratory data analysis and modeling
  • Builds predictive and prescriptive models supporting a vast array of customer and business scenarios; performs statistical tests to enhance the predictability of deployed models
  • Communicates analyses and insights to leaders by summarizing conclusions and solutions; translates analytics and statistics into clear, understandable themes for business leaders; identifies specific analytic results that drive actionable insights
  • Maintains consistency in analytic practices by brainstorming and partnering with other areas within the Data Analytics and Consumer Insights COE
  • Responsible for continuously learning and sharing analytic methodology and techniques new to Lowe’s
  • Develops solid hypotheses, in collaboration with business partners, on how value can be created; builds analytical models to validate/disprove these hypotheses and develops actionable recommendations for the business
  • Track measures of success and develop dashboard reports that measure customer and financial metrics for one or more of Lowe's operations, driving actionable insights

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Information Sciences, Applied Quantitative or related field and 3+ years of experience in applied advanced analytical role; experience working with analytic tools/software (e.g., Base SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner, Enterprise Guide, R) and performing advanced data modeling, data mining and exploratory data analysis (e.g., linear/logistic regression, ARIMA, Cluster Analysis) OR Master’s Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Information Sciences, Applied Quantitative or related field
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL
  • 2+ years analytic experience using multiple data systems and sources including enterprise-grade tools (Teradata, Aster, Hadoop, Adobe, Alteryx, Visualization tools)

  • 1+ year of Functional experience in performing predictive analytics at a large scale enterprise
