Job Summary

The principle purpose of the Manager, Data Quality / Governance is to provide direction and leadership for the quality, auditing, and governance for key master data (e.g. product/item, customer, vendor, etc.) and content. The Manager, Data Quality / Governance will be accountable for overseeing the processes of identifying quality gaps, tracking quality data and improvements, defining and prioritizing high value data quality projects, as well as providing direction and guidance for these projects.

The Manager, Data Quality / Governance will be responsible for providing assurance to both internal and external stakeholders on the integrity of data and content for the stakeholders of the Master Data Content Management (MDCM) group. In addition, the Manager, Data Quality / Governance will manage a team of individual contributors who are responsible for performing complex data quality audits for key data in a specific domain or business unit (product, customer, vendor, finance, etc.) and measuring the adherence to the data standards. The team is also responsible for using statistical analysis and data profiling tools to identify outlier data elements, standard adherence issues, and normalization abnormalities across the Master Data Content Management (MDCM) data domains.

To accomplish this, the Manager, Data Quality / Governance must have a broad knowledge of all aspects of data and content management, data quality and data governance, as well as strong communication and collaboration skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

Design Processes to Measure Data Quality
• Directs the analysis and leads the focus for data quality reviews performed.
• Oversees analytical techniques used to audit accuracy.
• Designs the processes to measure data completeness, correctness, accuracy and integration throughout the enterprise for assigned domains
• Collaborates with MDCM Strategies, Standards and Solutions team to recommend new technologies to further data quality initiatives
• Oversees the technical resources responsible for complex data validations and profiling data
• Collaborates with peers to ensure consistent approach is utilized for areas within and external to MDCM.
• Ensures accuracy of data quality analytics determined by mining data within internal, complex internal systems such as PCM, SVOC, CDW, etc.

Oversee Processes to Measure Adherence to Data Rules
• Develops and oversees processes to measure adherence to data rules, standards, and policies and communicate results
• Monitors adherence with standards and recommends changes to those standards or processes based on data quality results.
• Audits standards adherence across and within data domains (which may include customer, product, vendor, location, employee, etc.)
• Analyzes systematic reports for Data Quality issues and trends
• Designs appropriate communication to be distributed to internal and external stakeholders of MDCM presenting the audit results.

Advocate the Institutionalization of Ongoing Data Quality
• Advocates the institutionalization of ongoing data quality throughout the company via the standardization of data dimensions, rules and measures.
• Partners with the MDCM Reporting team to ensure summary audit results and findings are communicated.
• Defines Data Quality audit processes, measures, and scorecard
• Defines information quality dimensions within the data and content lifecycle
• Provides input on process or standard changes to increase the reliance and assurance that data is high quality.
• Creates, develops and communicates results of audits to stakeholders in a way which allows the enterprise to understand the value of data.

Business Influence
• Drives the development of tactical plans aligned with Data Quality, Governance, and Reporting (DQGR) and business strategy in order to bring the vision into realization
• Uses a critical eye to examine and streamline work flows and processes within the team, to increase efficiency.
• Develops short-term and long-term plans for DQGR which are aligned with the overall strategy of MDCM.
• Drives innovation across the team using a deep understanding of how the DQGR team works within the organization
• Keeps pace with change and maintains a competitive advantage within the marketplace by seeking out and learning about changes in the field

People Leadership

• Aligns the team’s time and effort on projects that are critical to Master Data Content Management (MDCM)’s success
• Delegates the right tasks and decisions to the people who are in the best position to execute them
• Provides open feedback and mentorship to team members to encourage growth and greater responsibility
• Hires, trains and develops the talent necessary to achieve stated objectives providing meaningful development opportunities for individuals in preparation for succession planning

Self-Leadership
• Negotiates effectively for the organization with internal and external stakeholders and builds relationships with key individuals necessary for collaboration
• Develops and presents communications, frequently to senior leadership, communicating the desired message, at the appropriate level, for the right recipient


Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Management, Information Systems, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field and 2 years of experience managing, auditing or governing Master Data or Content or Quality Management OR 6 years of experience managing, auditing or governing Master Data or Content or Quality Management
• 2 years of experience collaborating cross-functionally
• 1 year of experience ensuring data compliance to all organizational and regulatory data standards
• 1 year of experience leading and managing projects

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or a related field
• 2 years of experience in the following:
- managing content in one or more of the following areas: Documents, Records or Digital Assets
- managing data in one or more of the following areas: Product, Customer, Vendor, Location
- retail business operations experience, collaborating in a diverse, cross functional corporate environment
- leadership experience with direct report responsibility
• 3 years of experience leading and managing projects
• 1 year experience participating in quality improvement initiatives
• Information Quality Certified Professional
• Certified Data Management Professional
