The Manager, Market Concept & Development is instrumental in developing next generation business models for Lowe’s.This requires team members who are comfortable handling strategic assessments, financial valuations and operational responsibilities.

Primarily responsibilities are dependent on the targeted opportunity and can include analyzing trends, market and industry data, development of strategic concepts & business plans, and assisting in the market launch of approved concepts.

The Manager, Market Concept & Development will also have responsibility for ongoing monitoring of trends within determined focus areas; analyzing industry and financial data, creating documented insights for support of business case modeling and target identification; preparation of presentation materials for executive management; and ad hoc strategic analysis on various industries as necessary.

To accomplish this, the Manager, Market Concept & Development must have intermediate knowledge of strategic frameworks, business case development, and finance. The successful candidate will collaborate directly with extensive internal groups and external teams in order to develop business cases, hi-definition prototypes, and executive presentations.

Essential Responsibilities:

Market Analysis and Assessment

Immerse in focus areas via existing or new research – including 1st person interviews, data analysis, surveys, academic sources, etc.

Go beyond obvious sources to understand market movement and areas to exploit.

Assimilate research and provide grounded, concise market assessment & strategic direction for assigned focus areas. Continually monitor and revise based on new information.

Concept Development

Lead cross functional teams to develop early stage hypotheses and concepts that can be vetted with consumers and executives. Includes business case development, hi-definition prototyping and early stage critical success factors.

Assess viability of each concept for ability to hit short, mid & long-term targets based on external and internal factors.

Business Operations

Build the business plan to launch initial pilot or in-market operations. Includes strategic, operating, & financial documents.

Execute to plan while seeking data driven pivots to improve upon concept.

Business Influence

Meets or exceeds customers’ expectations, looks for ways to improve their experience, while creating a seamless experience by understanding how the Manager New Business Development role, team goals, and daily activities fit into the company vision

Drives for results by consistently achieving goals and pushing to complete tasks by their deadlines

Collaboration with Others

Works cross-functionally to manage and organize work processes and ensure most efficient work flow

Supports a collaborative environment by working in a team of peers to solve problems and shares information with peers, manager, and customers as appropriate

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business or comparable degree plus 2 years of experience in corporate management training, corporate strategy, corporate development, business consulting, or relevant entrepreneurial endeavor preferred --5+ years of experience preferred

Proven ability to move a business from idea to opportunity to in-market operations.

Previous success in at least two functional areas: strategy/ R&D, marketing & sales, technology development & deployment, field operations, finance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters in Business Administration preferred

High level of comfort with standard software packages (Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
