The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) serves as a primary point of contact for the CCO (Marketing, Merchandising, Pricing & Promotion, Sales & Ops Planning, Credit, Souring & QA) portfolio(s). The BRM is the primary relationship owner and the IT planning lead for their business customer(s) and is the conduit through which business priorities and needs are communicated and incorporated within the overall IT plan and standards. The BRM is also accountable for the intake of new capability requests as well as an escalation for issues in current capabilities.
The primary responsibility of the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) is to partner with Business Function areas, IT executives, Enterprise Architecture (EA), IT Solutions, Engineering, Business Process and Business Planning leaders to create an actionable roadmap for the work IT teams will deliver. The BRM must navigate cross-functionally with executive leadership in pursuit of demand management, resource alignment, and solutions delivery. The BRM represents the business partners to the IT organization for realization of business value through IT delivery. The BRM provides thought leadership on industry trends and innovation opportunities for their respective business areas to be incorporated into future capabilities.
• Demand Management
o Lead the annual planning cycle that includes obtaining Enterprise Integrated Roadmap (EIR) and Enhancement demand and aligning them with the IT roadmap and Enterprise Architect. Work with the Business Planning team to drive prioritization.
o Through an in-depth understanding of the business unit, contribute to strategic planning for both the business and the technology organizations ensuring business needs are transformed into tangible technology initiatives.
o Partner with EA, Enterprise Business Analyst, Engineering, and IT Solutions APMs (Application Portfolio Managers) and SEMs (Software Engineering Managers) to determine feasibility of incoming business requests.
o Works closely with EA, Engineering, APM’s, and Solution Communities and business partners to formulate financial and resource estimates
o Initiate and document the build out of the capability for enhancements/ projects in preparation for pre-planning governance activities; including coordination of IT estimates across all impacted teams
o Balance business demands with IT supply to ensure that compliance and system health requirements are actively managed and/or maintained while extending business capabilities.
o Facilitate business capability definition and roadmap planning and prioritization exercises, including development of capability documentation as appropriate
• Exploring /Ideation
o Stay current with business and technology trends, providing insight and recommendations on the competitive landscape and business drivers.
o Partner with Innovation and Enterprise Architect to identify new ways to solve business problems.
o Participate in the identification and documentation of gaps between business needs and future IT capabilities (effort ideation).
o Manage business partner expectations with respect to IT services.
o Serve as point of escalation and provide clarification for business and IT partners.
o Work with solution delivery teams to assess what resources are needed to meet business demand.
o Manage the intake and execution of ad hoc requests from business or IT partners
o Manage regular portfolio status and progress reporting and meetings for the solution area
o Conducts or oversees business-specific projects by applying deep expertise in subject area; developing work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; determining and carrying out processes and methodologies; coordinating and delegating resources to accomplish organizational goals; partnering internally and externally to make effective business decisions; solving complex problems; escalating high priority issues or risks as appropriate; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities
• Value Management
o Monitor portfolio performance; solicit feedback from the business to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
o Identify opportunities to increase the business value within IT initiatives and services.
o Proactively identify areas of opportunity to apply existing technologies for new business demand, process improvement, and cost efficiencies.
o Provide transparency into IT investment mix to ensure alignment with business objectives.
o Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; influencing team members within assigned unit; adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities; providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership and mentoring junior team members
Required Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS or related field and 8 years of experience in business analysis or a related field
• 5 years of solutions or business domain experience with increasing levels of responsibility
• 3 years of experience collaborating with design/development teams, internal or external
• 3 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports
• Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) process
• 4 years IT experience
• 3 years of experience directly managing a team
• 3 years of experience deploying technical solutions
• 2 years of experience working within a matrixed organization
• Certifications such as: BRMP, PMP, Six Sigma, ITIL
• Experience documenting/designing business processes
• Experience performing business analysis and requirements definition
