PURPOSE OF ROLE
The primary purpose of this role is to provide expert consultation to HR and business leaders related to the use of assessments for purposes of employee selection, placement, performance management, succession, and individual and team development. This includes leading large scale, cross-functional assessment initiatives that have major financial and operational impact at the enterprise level. This role manages projects from early project contracting to final measurement and evaluation. This includes performing needs assessments and job analysis studies, then developing and implementing valid, job-related, and legally defensible tools and processes. This role leads multiple, large assessment projects simultaneously – some independently and some with oversight from senior team members. This role manages the work of vendors and may also lead the work of junior team members on specific projects. This role may have a specific focus on supporting the enterprise performance management program. If so, this role will be responsible for providing expert advice on the design, development and implementation of effective performance management processes and supporting technology, administering performance management programs and on-going training and communication plans, and consulting with leaders and HR partners across the organization on issues related to performance management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Consults with clients at all levels across the organization, including business leaders and HR Business Partners, to identify needs and build assessment solutions that support enterprise talent goals while minimizing organizational risk. Manages large scale, complex projects – some independently and some with oversight from senior team members – that involve consultation with senior executives and deliverables that have significant business and operational impact. Manages vendor partners, ensuring products are of high quality and address established requirements, and that an exceptional level of customer service is provided. Directs the work of junior team members on specific projects, providing feedback on tasks and helping to facilitate communication with clients and vendors. Designs and implements valid, defensible, and sustainable assessment tools and processes (for purposes of selection, placement, development, performance management, and succession) that align with Lowe’s talent management strategy and support specific client needs. Builds (or oversees the development of) tools (e.g., structured interviews, performance evaluations, personality and cognitive tests, knowledge and aptitude tests, work samples, assessment center exercises, etc.) that target roles across all lines of business and range from senior level executive to high volume hourly level. Designs and conducts small and large-scale job analysis studies to support the development of role architectures, job descriptions, enterprise competency models and/or assessment tools/processes. Supports the design and execution of validation studies, analyzing key metrics to demonstrate linkages between assessment programs and important business outcomes. Conducts simple to complex data analyses (or oversees analyses completed by vendors) in support of job analytic and assessment implementation and validation activities. Develops technical documentation sufficient for legal inquires and in accordance with the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures. Recommends ways to improve foundational tools and processes along with the team’s overall consulting approach. May create, plan, and administer annual performance management programs (e.g. online and paper-based programs, across populations and managerial levels) from start to finish.
REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, HR Management, Organization Development, Organization Behavior, or a related field
  • 3 years Talent Management, Organizational Development, Selection & Assessment, Performance Management or related field (internal or consulting)
  • 2 years Assessment tool/process design and implementation
  • 2 years Managing cross-functional projects
  • 1 year Providing consulting support to senior business leaders
  • Knowledge of relevant employment law
  • Demonstrated experience managing the work of vendors
  • Demonstrated experience documenting technical aspects of projects or research studies
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PPT)
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Master's Degree in Psychology, HR Management, Organization Development, Organization Behavior, or a related field.5 years Talent Management, Organizational Development, Selection & Assessment, Performance Management or related field (internal or consulting)
  • 3 years Providing consulting support to senior business leaders
  • 1 year Working in a retail organization at a corporate level
  • Complex data analysis experience, managing the work of vendors, writing technical documentation or research studies, developing a wide-scale communication plan and communications
  • Demonstrated experience participating in the development of wide-scale communication plans and associated materials/messages
  • Experience using SPSS or SAS
