Internship Program Overview
Lowe's 2019 Summer Internship Program offers challenging assignments to undergraduate and graduate students, enhancing their understanding of the retail business world through valuable, hands-on experience with a FORTUNE 50 company. The summer internship program begins with orientation in late May and concludes in early-August. All internships are paid and housing is available for those that qualify. This role has potential for conversion into a full-time position for those that successfully complete the internship and upon candidate's graduation.

The internship will consist of a project-based assignment to broaden learning, experience, organizational knowledge, and business acumen. We are looking for people driven by potential. Education and/or Experience
•Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Retail with expected graduation date of December 2019 or May 2020
•Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA is required
•Proficient in MSOffice Programs (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint), JDA Space Planning Software proficiency is preferred, but nor required
•Strong collaborative, innovative, problem solving, time management, organizational, and communication skills are required
•Relevant internship and experience is a plus, as is experience in a leadership position at work or within a campus organization

Area of Learning

•Visual & Space Planning Department Overview - This department serves as a critical function to the enterprise in planning and launching successful and profitable resets to stores and ultimately driving the most optimal shopping experience for our customers. The Visual & Space Planning teams are responsible for analyzing and planning macro and micro space, producing floor plans and planograms to support reset execution. The team also provides direct service to store associates during reset execution to review and resolve any issues or roadblocks they face to complete the reset to Lowe's standards. This department also serves as a major support function to the Merchandising community.

•Intern Project Assignment Scope and Deliverables - Develop an enhanced planogram (POG) print layout to aid in successful resets in the stores by simplifying the content and layout to focus only on the most critical information to complete the reset, eliminate roadblocks/pain points and reduce overall labor time for store associates and/or third party labor groups.
1. Collaborate with field, third party and Deployment business partners to collect their feedback on current pain points, identify the most critical information to complete a reset, and brainstorm to identify potential improvements and efficiency gains
2. Compile feedback and ideas and develop proposed layout options
3. Partner with POG and other business partners to create a proposed print layout in JDA Space Planning software
4. Partner with field and Deployment business partners to review and test the new print layout within an in-store reset
5. Implement revisions to print layout based on insights from the in-store reset
6. Prepare a final presentation for cross functional leadership teams to make final recommendation
