Purpose of role:

The primary purpose of this role is to participate in the establishment and implementation of the accommodation request process for the company. Such processes include those related to requests from both active employees and those returning from an approved medical leave of absence. This includes responsibility for facilitating the interactive process between the employee, the people manager and HR field resource to identify appropriate work accommodation options and monitor the implementation of same.

Responsibility Statements:

Engages in interactive process with employees requesting additional leave, modifications to assist the employees to perform their essential job duties, or requesting reassignment. Reviews and evaluates accommodation requests and recommends appropriate accommodation options. Develops standardized methods for handling frequent end-of-leave/return to work accommodation requests and requests for additional leave. Documents accommodation responses and end-of-leave termination decisions. Partners with other HR operations teams and third party vendor to implement tracking mechanisms to ensure employees on leave are notified of ability to request accommodation or extension of leave. Creates and implements tracking process for leave extension, accommodation requests and interactive process responses. Monitors implementation of accommodation response to employees who return from leave. Leverages centralized reporting team to support any reporting obligations in coordination with the Legal Department. Ensures training obligations on end-of-leave processes are completed. Creates reporting mechanisms for interactive process requests and end-of-leave processes.

Required Education/Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma and 4+ years
  • Experience in human resources or related business field
  • Case management experience in the disability/worker’s compensation/FMLA/counseling arena
  • Experience w ADA and FMLA with working knowledge of workers' compensation
  • Experience in human resources or related business field
Preferred Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, or related field and 2+ years
  • Experience in human resources or related field
  • Case management experience in the disability/worker’s compensation/FMLA/counseling arena
  • Experience w ADA and FMLA with working knowledge of workers' compensation
  • Experience managing disability accommodation cases that include return to work programs Or Master’s Degree in Business, HR, or related field.
