I. Job Summary: The Operations Manger is a leadership position that provides the direction for a millwork building to achieve key performance indicator targets. The Operations Manager leads a high performing team to manufacture and deliver product on-time to the customer, with no safety or product incidents, and within budget. The position implements new processes and opportunities for product lines. The Operations Manager also ensures that their leadership team is trained and skilled to lead the workforce. II. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: • Evaluate and implement employee suggestions for safety improvements • Conduct Incident Review Board (IRB) to investigate incidents • Monitor vendor-supplied stock and flow-through product so that it is available when needed • Continuously monitor production statistics • Confer with coaches periodically throughout the day to reallocate resources, address emergent issues • Use resources effectively to minimize overtime • Ensure pulled-stock available when needed (eliminates production delays due to stock shortage) • Ensure product quality on-target to eliminate re-work (keeps labor costs on track; eliminates overtime; keeps productivity on target) • Mentor coaches so they are positioned to assume manager roles; work with them on developing their IDPs • Conduct periodic Coach team-building sessions; motivate coaches; develop coaches’ analytical/critical thinking and problem-solving • Build trust with coaches so that they seek help when it’s needed • Evaluate and implement employee suggestions for productivity and safety improvements; create a sense that employee is valued; oversee PACE (Pro-actively Achieving Customer Excellence) program • Evaluate root causes for product damage; implement processes that reduce product damage
