Job Description:

The principle purpose of the Manager Government Affairs is to represent and advance Lowe’s government relations agenda before elected officials and government decision makers at the state and local levels. Responsible for developing and maintaining relations with state trade associations focusing on key objectives and company priorities at the state and local levels.

The Manager is responsible for supporting development of the company political action committee.

To accomplish this, the Manager Government Affairs must have comprehensive knowledge of legislative and political affairs. S/he also must have the ability to identify developing threats and opportunities for the company in the political/legislative arena and develop plans to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.

The Manager Government Affairs will also have primary responsibility for planning and coordinating store and facility tours for elected officials at the state and federal levels, and communicating on legislative issues with field employees via internal communications tools.

In addition, the Manager Government Affairs will work closely with leadership from various internal organizations on issues impacting the company as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in political science or related field plus 5 years of experience OR 8+ years of experience in legislative affairs at state or federal level

Demonstrated experience managing project teams

Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally

Use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and budgeting experience required
